Our goal isn’t to build the cheapest kitchen. Our goal is to help you build the kitchen you’ll still love 20 years from now
Where Your Money Goes
Kitchen costs vary on a wide scale depending on investment for do it yourself or installed kitchen remodels. Actual costs vary based on room size, cabinet quality, layout changes, moved plumbing or electrical, room additions, window add on, appliances, finishes, and structural work.
MR Planners specializes in helping make a plan so we can help keep costs down. The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) generally state that It is a good rule of thumb to spend 5% to 15% of your overall home value on a kitchen renovation to protect your return on investment. For example, if your home is valued at $250,000, a healthy target budget would land right around $25,000-$30,000.

Why Can Two Kitchen Estimates Be $$$$ Apart?
This is one of the biggest questions homeowners ask.
| Lower Initial Price | Higher Long-Term Value |
| Particleboard cabinet box | Plywood construction options |
| Standard hinges | Soft-close hardware |
| Thin drawer bottoms | Durable dovetail drawers (where selected) that dont fall apart in 3 years. |
| Limited storage features | Customized storage solutions |
| Basic installation | Detailed planning and professional installation |
| Fewer services included | Coordinated project management |
The lowest estimate isn’t always the lowest cost. Understanding what is—and isn’t—included helps you compare proposals fairly.
But The Cheapest Kitchen Often Becomes The Most Expensive if you dont have a reputable kitchen contractor.
Here are the Biggest Remodeling Mistakes that can cost homeowners expensive disappointments.
Wrong measurements
Cabinets reordered at customer expense
Countertops recut
Floor repairs
Electrical changes
Plumbing relocation
Scheduling delays
Poor installation or poor miters
Cabinet doors unaligned
Cabinet hardware not lining up
Refrigerator Doesn’t Fit
“Planning should happen before cabinets are ordered.”

Bad Trim & Miters
“Craftsmanship shows in every corner.”

Uneven Hardware
“Small details make a big difference.”

Crooked Cabinet Doors
“You’ll notice them every morning.”
Poor Finishing
“You paid for quality—your kitchen should reflect it.”
Planning Is the Least Expensive Part of a Remodel…
…and Often the Most Valuable.
A homeowner came to us after getting a competitor kitchen quote. The refrigerator opening was too small, there was only 1 ½ feet in front of the refrigerator, the drawer handle hit the dishwasher, and the microwave couldn’t vent properly, and the window was not centered in the sink base. By redesigning the layout before installation, the project avoided far more expensive corrections and our quote included the countertop which they didnt. The customer was also spared from living with annoying problems after paying for what was hoped to be a great place to relax.

You get a pretty good idea of what to expect for quality, we have a live showroom to see the actual cabinets and drawers and the multiple colors and woods to choose from.
“The cheapest kitchen isn’t usually the least expensive. The best value comes from thoughtful planning, quality materials, and professional installation.”
